The Kannada Brahmin Geneology-1

I know some of you must be wondering why am i blogging on such a topic. Well, to be very honest this epitomises the fact that ive reached the marraigeable age and my family being a part of the society has pressed the throttle to its fullness :)

Based on empirical data, iam gradually coming to a conclusion that i dont have the knack of arranging my marraige myself:) , hence in all probability i'll be heading for an arranged marriage. So let me share with you the knowledge ive gained in these many days in terms of the various brahminic sects karnataka has.

This might look rudimentry to a few but pl respect the fact that ive been brought up completely in rustic north indian ambience..no no pl dont think that ive become a JAT..

Fine,here i go....

Broadly kannadiga brahmins can be assorted into two sections:

Smartha Brahmins
Madhava Brahmins

Smarthas beleive and worship all gods while madhavas who in a way are offshoot of smarthas equate god to Vishnu.

Unlike maadhavas, smarthas comprises of many types:

Ulucha Kamme
Babboor Kamme (Iam a Babboor Kamme)
Sankethi
Hoysala Karnataka
Badaganadu
Kota
Havyaka Brahmins

One can find smartha brahmins in Andhra,Kerala TN as well--Iyers and Namboothiris being a good examples. Iyengars on the other hand are madhavas.

Ending this blog slight abruptly as i need to further take a deep dive on this. Rest in next.
