Bengalooru-Analysis

With the re-naming of 'Bangalore' seeming almost inevitable, let me attempt a PEST analysis of this exercise.

Political: One thing is for sure, the incumbent CM of karanataka will definitely gain a political mileage from this. It shall help him to divert the media's attention from the current exposure of Bangalore's dwindling infrastructure and the Belgaum fiasco. This shall also help him to pitch into the 'Core Kannadiga' voting segment. This will also mellow down our ex-PM from the same state if not jovial.A lot of debate in informal circles regarding the fanatiscm of neighbouring states for their regional languages but "why not in karnataka" would also be quelled.

Economical: The direct and immediate adverse impact will be on state exchequer. This includes changing the ledgers, directives, address details, renaming the transport modes et al.Another one is the branding expense, the brunt of which would be equally shared by corporates as they too need to educate their clients and prospects that we have a presence in 'Bengalooru' which is erstwhile 'Bangalore'.Measure the loss of oppurtunity cost of our work timings when we would be visiting govt offices for official changes 'Address in Passport, Domiciles '

Social:I dont think it will matter too much to the common junta but for the local staunch kannadigas.Indeed it will give them a sense of proud on hearing a North Indian conversing with his friend "Hi AB, jaldi se bengalooru aja,aaj kal bahut walk-ins ho rahein hain yahan, bengalooru ka mausam bhi bahut mast hain"

Technological:Being the tech hub i dont see this as a major issue in this re-naming exercise.Thats a different matter altogether that there might be another directive very soon to rename all MNC's as "Microsoftu","Accenturu".

Iam done .Thanks.

My Reading Habits

Iam an extremely indisciplined reader, the major reason for stating, sharing and confessing this aspect of mine is the pathetic record ive garnered on this front.Iam one of those readers who :

  • Strongly beleives in 'word of mouth' for a particular book.
  • The cover pages has to be appealling
  • Same with the epilogue
  • Off-late,the author has to be known atleast in my coterie.
  • I beleive in "love at first sight" for a book

I dont know the reason for my indiscpline, one reason which iam observing is i start feeling sleepy the moment i take a book(this roots to my academic days-so can't help it).Recently AK gave me a great book to read which iam finding it hard to finish as the print of the pages and the fonts are not-'my type'.

Secondly my addiction to cricket and movies is also becoming a poison for my reading habit.I think the best way is to lock myself in a room and hammer myself with these words "Start reading and finish the book bugger or else god will curse you to remain virgin throughout your life".But here also lies one small but crucial problem, the moment i read a book with the no. of pages in my mind then i fail to struck a chord with it.Its kinda the same feeling which a Hindi movie hero gets when his mother says "Agar tumne meri pasand ki ladki se shaadi nahi ke tu mera mara hua munh dekhoge",poor chap is left with only one option.

Well, pray for me not to become a hero.
